The Eat Your Words Festival was founded in 2014 by Renae Grinlaubs and the UQ Writers' Club as a way to celebrate local writers and writing.

The festival aims to bring together writers from Brisbane to improve their craft and to give them a chance to meet other writers working in Brisbane.

To this end, the festival features various events, including workshops run by local authors, a discussion panel, games, and an editing party at the end of the day.

The festival celebrates the transformative power of words and the imagination with a city-wide conversation with thinkers, readers, and writers through a menu of events, during which St Lucia will be transformed into a cultural hub of activity. The Eat Your Words Festival 2014 wants participants to “eat their words”—chew them over, appreciate them, and consider how they work as the bread and butter of the writing craft. Our words are our meal ticket, and in the Eat Your Words Festival, we are going to celebrate them.

This year, we're also publishing a compilation of anything written or edited at the festival in an ebook called Fruits of the Festival.

A bit more about us...

Our lovely team for 2014

The Eat Your Words Festival would not be possible without the love and dedication of the following wonderful people.
